This year's ABA Regulatory Conference includes consumer compliance, real estate lending, and addresses many topics everyone is struggling with in today's ever changing environment.  Jeri and Carol are attending the ABA conference in June and will share updates, information and highlights from the conference.

The Wichita Marriott Hotel is located on the east side of Wichita, north of the intersection of Kellogg and Webb. There is construction on Kellogg, so please plan accordingly.

Biographies 

Tim Kemp, OSBC Deputy Bank Commissioner

Tim Kemp joined the Office of the State Bank Commissioner in 2001. In addition to his current role as Deputy Bank Commissioner, Tim has served the agency in many capacities including Director of Examinations, Review Examiner, and as a Bank Examiner. As an examiner, he specialized in examination management, operations and loan review.  Originally from Pretty Prairie, Kansas, Tim enjoys a strong connection to agriculture. He helped on the family farm growing up and operated a large family farm and ranch in Butler and Reno counties. His ag operations included dryland and irrigated crops, a cow/calf operation and stockers. Tim’s children and family continue to be involved in agriculture.Tim received his Bachelor of Science degree in business administration with an emphasis in economics from Bethel College, and attended Kansas State University. He is a graduate of the Colorado Graduate School of Banking.  In addition to his OSBC and agriculture production experience, Tim previously served as a district aide to former Congressman Dan Glickman.

Gerald S. (Jerry) Parnacott, FDIC, Review Examiner, Division of Depositor and Consumer Protection - Kansas City Region

Gerard "Jerry" Parnacott is a review examiner for the FDIC in the Kansas City region with nearly 33 years of Federal service.  Before becoming a review examiner, Jerry was the Kansas City region's Fair Lending Examination Specialist.  He received his commission as an examiner in the St. Louis field office in 2004.  Before joining the FDIC, Jerry worked in several capacities in the United States Department of Agriculture.  He is a graduate of Central Missouri State University (now University of Central Missouri), where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.

Maurice Roper, Federal Reserve Bank, Examiner

Maurice Roper is a Consumer Compliance Examiner at the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. Maurice works at the headquarters located in Kansas City, Missouri. He has been with the Bank five years and currently serves as one of three training coordinators for all branch offices including Denver and Omaha. During his time at the Bank Maurice has lead small to intermediate-small institutions and has conducted numerous fair lending, CRA, and technical lending rotations. In addition to examinations, Maurice also serves as a member of the Bank’s Employee Diversity Committee that focuses on diversity, inclusion, and its vital role in the ever-changing workforce.

Jeri Hewitt, Emprise Bank, Vice President, Compliance Manager   

Jeri Hewitt is the Vice President, Compliance Manager of Emprise Bank, a $1.7 billion bank with 37 branches in Kansas. She has over 30 years’ experience in the banking industry primarily focused in the BSA, Compliance and CRA areas. She is a graduate of the ABA National Compliance School, ABA Graduate School of Compliance Risk Management and the ABA Commercial Lending School. Jeri is also a member of the Heartland Compliance Association where she currently serves on the Steering Committee.

Carol Urban-Deal, Fidelity Bank, Executive Vice President, Compliance Director

As compliance director, Carol Urban-Deal develops and implements Fidelity's regulatory policies related to risk management, the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act, Bank Secrecy Act, retail banking, lending and vendor relationships.  Carol has worked at Fidelity Bank since 2000 and has nearly three decades of banking experience in areas that include operations, branch management, regulatory compliance and information technology.  Carol holds a Bachelor of Science degree in organizational management and leadership from Friends University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Webster University.  Carol attended the Bank Administration Institute Graduate School of Banking at Vanderbilt University, graduating in 2006.
